      If you think about it a lot of the things we use today are basic computers. From your calculator to the mobile phone and the printer in the office all are computers.The computer is actually a very old invention. Initially in the 17th centaury a gentle man with a very funny name (Charles Babbage) invented an analytical machine. This was used to make basic calculations like how to position a weapon to increase its accuracy etc. Since then computers have become smaller and more powerful. Interesting fact: In the 1960’s the USA army had a big computer that fit in an entire building and its memory capacity was smaller than the memory card in todays phones!!

      The word “computer” was first recorded as being used in 1613 and originally was used to describe a human who performed calculations or computations. The computer therefore may mean several technologies and it may be hard to ascribe it to a single person. However, the first programmable computer known as the Z1 was created by a German called Konrad Zuse in his parents’ living room between 1936 and 1938 (according to records).
