A better answer to you question would be to describe what we call refractory errors in the eye. Refraction is bending of light as it passes through one object to another. Vision occurs when light rays are bent (refracted) as they pass through the cornea and the lens. The light is then focused on the retina. The retina converts the light-rays into messages that are sent through the optic nerve to the brain. The brain interprets these messages into the images we see. Therefore any problems with the above system results in a refractory error.
In answer to your question, short sightedness also called near sightedness, is a refractory error where objects that are close appear clear, while objects far away appear blurry. It is because light comes to focus in front of the retina instead of on the retina. Another name for short sightedness is Myopia. So if someone is doing something that might have consequences in future but they don’t seem to realize that now you can warn them by saying don’t be myopic!
So what you are asking is how does an abortion happen. In medical practice there are many kinds of abortion. Some are what we call spontaneous abortion and others are induced abortions. The spontaneous one happens without a reason and is what we call a miscarriage. AN induced abortion may be done if in the healthcare providers opinion, continuation of the pregnancy will result in life threatening medical sequel for the mother. This are not very common and are not a decision made easily or by one person but by a team of healthcare professionals and even legal professionals.
Then there are what we call criminal abortions. These are termination of pregnancy for reasons other than the health of the mother. As the name suggests they are illegal and are often carried out in secret often in very unsanitary conditions and often by unskilled and untrained individuals. As you can imagine since they are criminal in nature, I cannot in fairness tell you how they are done!!
AS I explained above, criminal abortions are often done outside healthcare facilities and by untrained individuals. The combination of this factors and the fear of seeking proper healthcare after the event come together to make it very likely that complications like excessive bleeding, massive infections or even incomplete evacuation of the womb can kill the recipient of the service.
